1. Define – Clarify the problem or opportunity, customer requirements, process boundaries, and project objectives.
2. Measure – Assess the current state and establish baseline performance through focused data collection.
3. Analyze – Identify root causes by examining input–output relationships and validating the real drivers of issues.
4. Improve – Design and implement solutions that address root causes, then test and verify their effectiveness.
5. Control – Put in place controls, monitoring, and documentation to sustain the improved performance over time.
